Cheney-Mogford-Deese
This home is included on the Terrell County Tour of Homes but is actually located in the neighboring county of Randolph. It can be seen on the corner of Highway 82 and Highway 41 South, just 9 miles west of Dawson.
This Plantation-Plain style home was built in 1912 for Mr. and Mrs. Charles M. Cheney. The property has belonged to the Cheney family and their decendents since that time.
Charles and Jo Ann Deese continue the tradition since 1991. As grandson of its builder, Charles has balanced renovation with restoration. The original tongue-in-grove ceilings, wainscotting, nine fireplaces and mantels, and many pieces of furniture are still in place. The wiring and plumbing have been replaced, and the floors have been refinished.
